The Loire Wine Academy offers courses for wine-lovers of all levels– from novice to expert, across a range of subjects from tasting skills to food pairing to Loire intensives. Classes range from as little as three hours to as long as 16 weeks, but all aim to bring excitement to wine education.
All WSET classes include all learning materials and a proctored examination. Upon successful passing of the exam, all students will issued official WSET certificates.
8 HOURS
A beginner level introduction to wine suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine. Provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine- explores the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, teaches the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings.
21 HOURS
A beginner-to-intermediate qualification, suitable for wine professionals and enthusiasts. Presents the principal grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Uses a combination of tasting and theory to explore the factors that impact style and quality and teaches how to describe wines with confidence.
35 HOURS
Advanced qualification for professionals working in the wine industry or real wine enthusiasts. Delves deeper into still, sparkling and fortified wines- plus a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making. Extensive tasting and theory are used together to assess wines accurately and explain wine style and quality.
FLEXIBLE HOURS
If you can't come to the Loire, we offer blended learning courses with a combination of online sessions and onsite sessions. These programs are for the longer WSET Level 2 and Level 3 award in wines. Message us for more details and course dates using this format.

Learn the essentials of how to taste wine, describe what is in the glass, evaluate wines for quality, and define your own preferences when it comes to buying and ordering wine. This course aims to demystify wine selection and is an essential for every wine lover.

The Loire River stretches over 650 miles from the Atlantic Coast to forests far inland, influencing grape growing all along its path. This leads to a vast array of wine styles from dozens of different grapes. This class reviews the main styles and sub-regions through both study and tasting.

Wine is about sharing so when we love wine we want to share it, which means entertaining- either at home or a restaurant. But choosing the right food to go alongside your chosen wine can be intimidatingly complex. This course breaks down food and wine pairing into 5 easy methods and then dives deep into cheese pairing.

Sparkling wines are so much more than just Champagne - even in France! This course dives deep into the production method of the main types of sparkling wine sold around the world, with each style tasted at the same time, so students can directly compare how the different methods effect what is in the glass.
