Loire Wine Academy was co-created by Sara Feiz and Allison Burton-Parker– two expats living in France who met during their advanced wine studies and bonded over their love of the Loire and its wines. The Academy gives them a chance to share their wine knowledge and passion, as well their connections in the region.
Allison is a former luxury advertising executive who was charmed by the Loire Valley – and its wines – a decade ago and never looked back. She holds the WSET Diploma in Wines and is a Loire Valley Master from the Wine Scholar Guild, and is currently writing a book on the wines of the Loire. She is on a mission to demystify wine and share her love of Loire wines.
An ex-finance professional, Iranian by origin, Canadian by choice and Italian by love. In addition to her WSET Diploma, Sara has been learning about wine for over 10 years and travelled extensively in French and Italian wine regions, developing a deep passion for the wines of the Loire. Her smile lights up any room and her tasting notes are always top notch.
Our classes are held in the historic pigeonnier at La Restrie, a 17th century domaine near Amboise. The pigeonnier is a classified monument, and has been meticulously restored to house a fully-equipped education and event space.
The ground floor features a welcome area and a full kitchen, and storage areas for wines and glasses. Masterclasses or partial sessions are held around the large tasting counter here.
The main classroom is upstairs, housed underneath a network of beams and the dramatic coupola of the pigeonnier. Each student has their own individual desk, tasting glasses and spitoon.
